Dubai Municipality's scheme defines an OHS Practitioner as the person within an establishment responsible for providing competent technical advice on occupational health and safety matters.

Six Areas. One Objective: Competent OHS Practice.
The OHS Practitioner examination evaluates professional competence across six key domain areas established under the Dubai Municipality scheme framework.
OHS management principles, organizational factors, performance monitoring and the management of workplace health and safety.
Hazard identification, risk analysis, risk evaluation and selection of appropriate controls.
Applying safety principles to workplace hazards, equipment, operations and risk-control situations.
Emergency planning, fire safety, response arrangements and workplace preparedness.
Occupational exposures, ergonomics, health hazards and workplace health protection.
Understanding and applying relevant UAE and Dubai occupational health and safety requirements.
Minimum overall examination score: 60%. Candidates must also achieve at least 50% in critical elements: Risk Management, Application of Safety Concepts, and Health & Safety Regulations.

Successful candidates receive OHS Practitioner certification (Valid 2 years).
Professional competence does not stop when the certificate is issued. Before the end of the two-year certification period, OHS Practitioners must undergo renewal.
Note: Where required continuing-competence evidence cannot be demonstrated, the scheme requires the practitioner to take and pass the applicable renewal examination.
